What's New in Importier
June 2026 - Import flow improvements
- More accurate What's Included section. Generated descriptions now list the box contents stated on the listing or in the manufacturer data, in point form, instead of guessing. For used or second-hand items only the product title is listed. See Generating Descriptions.
- Fix Products with Importier. Select existing products on the Shopify admin Products tab and choose Fix Products with Importier from the actions menu to send them straight into Importier's flow. The products are updated in place, never duplicated. See fix products with Importier.
- Usage Analytics on the dashboard. A new Usage Analytics section shows how much of your plan you have used, your Products Remaining this billing period, recent activity stats, and a 30-day usage chart. See dashboard overview.
- Import progress survives a refresh. If the page reloads part way through an import, Importier restores where you were instead of resetting to the start. See the import flow overview.
- Skip Pricing on the Tax step. Move past the Tax step without applying any tax adjustment or currency conversion when an import needs no price changes. See Tax Configuration.
- Skip the AI on Barcode Search and Generate Descriptions. Keep the barcodes and descriptions from your uploaded file by skipping the AI on those steps. The skip buttons are always available. See Barcode Lookup and Generating Descriptions.
- Add imported products to collections. An optional Collections selector on the Import Options step adds every product in the import to the manual collections you choose. Smart collections are skipped because they fill from their own rules. Saves adding products to collections one at a time after import. See adding imported products to collections.
- Dropbox as an image source. Dropbox folders now join Google Drive as a paste-in image source. Drop a shared folder link into the Image column of your CSV and Importier collects every image in the folder, sorts them in natural order, and attaches them to the product. See Dropbox Images, or the deep dive in how to import product images from Dropbox.
- Bulk title editing tools. Clean up supplier titles across an entire batch on the Generate Descriptions step, before any descriptions are written. Change case, add or remove characters by position, and strip stray spaces, line breaks, HTML and delimiters in one pass. See Bulk Title Editing Tools, or the walkthrough in bulk edit product titles before importing to Shopify.
- Theme template selector. Pick which product page template your imported products should use. Set it once for the whole import and override it per product in the Review step. See choose a theme template for imported products.
- Currency conversion before tax. When supplier or invoice prices are in a different currency, choose the source currency and Importier converts every cost, price and compare-at price into your store currency before tax is applied. The live rate is shown and you can override it. See Currency Conversion Before Tax, or the deep dive in importing a supplier file in a foreign currency.
- Manual specification assignment. Map your store's own custom metafields to a value per product directly in the Review step. Specifications land in the right fields on import, so storefront filters and product pages work straight away without a second pass in Shopify admin. See Manual Specification Assignment.
- AI specification auto-fill. With your specification columns set up, Importier reads each product's title and gathered details and proposes values, filling only what it is confident about and leaving the rest for you to complete. Everything stays editable before import. See AI Auto-fill for Specifications, or the deep dive in auto-fill product specifications with AI.
- Theme Tab Mapping with metaobjects and custom tab titles. Route each section of a generated description into the field your theme reads for that tab, give each one your own title, and assign it to a metafield or a metaobject. Assigning a section to a metaobject creates and links the structured content for you. See Theme Tab Mapping, or the deep dive in filling theme tabs from Importier descriptions.
- Review and editing refinements. The Review step now has sortable columns and a clearer overall layout. The description editor's formatting tools apply to your highlighted text instead of the whole field. CSV export now includes the new template and specification fields, so a re-import or backup round-trip carries everything. See Review: Full-Screen Bulk Editor.
May 2026
- Smarter product data enrichment. Importier now pulls from multiple sources to fill in missing details and improve listing quality. See Data Enrichment, or read more on how Shopify product data enrichment works.
- Automatic image sorting. White-background catalogue shots are placed first, lifestyle images after. See how Importier sorts your product images.
- Pause and resume AI description generation. Stop a batch part way through and resume right where you left off. See pause, resume and cancel.
- Single-product imports skip Variants. One-row files bypass the Variants step automatically. See importing partial CSVs.
- No-pricing imports skip Tax. Files without price columns bypass the Tax step entirely. See importing partial CSVs.
- Deselect products mid-flow. Untick rows on the Generate Descriptions or Review step to drop them from the rest of the import. See deselecting products before import.
- Source attribution on Review. The Review step now shows where each piece of product data came from. See where your product data came from.
- Simpler category metafield warnings. Warnings now include one-click guidance to enable the right Industry Pack. See Category Metafields.
- Importier is live on the Shopify App Store. Install in two clicks from the App Store, no separate API keys needed. See install from the Shopify App Store.
April 2026
- Variant descriptions (Scale and Enterprise). Each variant gets its own tailored description rather than sharing the parent's. See Variant Descriptions, or the deep dive in how Shopify variant descriptions work.
- Multi-strategy category metafield matching. Phase 0 direct match, Phase 1 deterministic matching, and Phase 2 AI-assisted matching now combine to fill more category attributes accurately. See Category Metafields.
- 22 Industry Packs. Coverage now spans 3,758 category attribute types for richer metafield support across more product categories. See Industry Packs.
