Connecting Your Shopify Store
Importier connects to your Shopify store through Shopify's official OAuth authentication flow.
How to Connect
- Install Importier from the Shopify App Store.
- Shopify prompts you to authorise the app with the required permissions.
- Click Install to complete the connection.
All permissions are requested and granted automatically during the standard Shopify app installation process. You do not need to manually configure API keys, access tokens, or scopes. Shopify handles the entire authorisation flow. Once you click Install, Importier immediately has the access it needs to create products, manage inventory, and publish to your sales channels.
Required Permissions
Importier requests the following Shopify API scopes during installation. These are automatically approved when you click Install and do not require any manual setup on your part:
- read_products - check for duplicate SKUs and scan your existing catalogue before importing.
- write_products - create and update products, including titles, descriptions, images, variants, prices and metafields.
- read_publications - see your store's sales channels, such as Online Store and Point of Sale.
- write_publications - publish imported products to the sales channels you choose.
- read_locations - list your stock locations so inventory can be assigned to the right place.
- read_inventory - read current stock levels.
- write_inventory - set opening stock quantities when products are created.
- read_metaobject_definitions - read your store's category attribute and metaobject definitions, used for category metafields and Industry Packs.
- write_metaobject_definitions - enable Shopify's standard category attribute definitions when you install an Industry Pack.
- read_metaobjects - read existing category attribute entries, such as colour and material values.
- write_metaobjects - create category attribute entries and Theme Tab Mapping entries during import.
- read_themes - read your published theme's product templates so you can choose a theme template for imported products, and support Theme Tab Mapping.
If you need to review or revoke permissions, go to your Shopify admin under Settings > Apps and sales channels, find Importier, and click Manage.
