Import Options & Review
What this article covers: How to fill values into your store's own custom metafields, per product, during import so your theme can show a full spec table without a second pass in Shopify admin.
Manually Assign Product Specifications
Many themes show a specification table on the product page driven by custom metafields, for example Material, Magnification or Capacity. The Manual Specification Assignment option lets you fill those metafields per product during the Review step, so the right values land in the right fields on import.
Before You Start
- The custom metafields you want to fill should already exist in your Shopify store. Importier lists your existing custom metafields for you to choose from.
Steps
- At the Category Attributes step, tick Manually assign missing specifications to products.
- Continue to the Review Import step. Three Specification columns are now shown.
- In each Specification column header, choose one of your store's custom metafields from the dropdown. This sets what that column represents for the whole batch.
- For each product, type the value down the column, for example a Material of Aluminium.
- Leave a cell blank to skip that specification for that product. Only filled cells are imported.
- Continue to import. The values are saved into the matching metafields on each product.
Tips
Map the three columns to the three specifications your theme uses most. You can re-run an import for less common fields later. To save typing, see AI Auto-fill for Specifications.
