Deselecting Products Before Import
You do not have to import every product in your file. At two points during the import flow, you can untick individual products to exclude them from the rest of the process.
Where to deselect
Product checkboxes appear on both the Generate Descriptions step and the Review step. Untick any product you want to exclude. You can deselect on either step or both.
What happens to deselected products
Once a product is unticked, it is dropped from every subsequent step in the flow:
- Data Enrichment - the product is not enriched.
- Category Metafields - no metafield matching is attempted.
- Import Options - the product is excluded from pricing, status, and channel assignment.
- Review - the product does not appear in the bulk editor.
- Confirm - the product is not sent to Shopify.
Deselected products are not counted against your plan limit
Only products that are actually imported to Shopify count toward your monthly product quota. If you deselect 10 products from a 50-product file, only 40 are counted against your plan.
Re-selecting a product
If you change your mind, tick the product again. Importier re-runs any steps that were skipped for that product (such as description generation or enrichment). This may add a short delay while the AI processes the newly re-selected items.
At least one product must remain selected
You cannot deselect every product in the file. At least one product must be ticked to proceed through the import flow. If you attempt to continue with zero products selected, Importier displays a warning and blocks the next step.
When deselection is most useful
Deselection is particularly helpful for culling problem rows from large imports. If a handful of rows have bad data, missing titles, or irrelevant products mixed in with the rest, unticking them is faster than editing the CSV and re-uploading.
